[Rude thought about forgetting the thoughtful present but he was curious and he had some time to kill between odd jobs. Besides, this sort of investigative work was right up his alley. Time to get in a little practice for what he was really made for.
So, with that in mind, Rude set out to find the mysterious gift-giver. He started by asking around the Haven about the decoration and signature. It seemed this had happened before and people recognized it. Eventually he gathered enough information to hunt her down.]
Excuse me.
[Tall, dark, and handsome behind a pair of sunglasses--with a deep voice to match his large frame (made larger as a dragon now) and a dark or mysterious aura surrounding him. Or maybe she could see through that and into the gentler side that was being formal and polite as he spoke to a stranger and a woman no less.]
[Being noticed by others was not really a rare occurrence for Marie, so she turns to the stranger and smiles.
What could this be about this time? Perhaps social events? Fashion? Or maybe... her recent little Modranicht gifting spree?
It’s not like she really made any effort to stay hidden. Anyone who wouldn’t already have known but wanted to would have been able to find the mysterious gift giver without much trouble]
Sorry to bother you, but I found out you were the one that left those gifts for all the Mirrorbound. It was really nice of you.
[It definitely hadn't been something he had expected. Turks didn't really warrant such niceties back home...it wouldn't occur to him that it'd be any different here. They didn't really advertise where they lived either...though it wasn't exactly a secret. The building had an occupancy list to let others know which apartments were still vacant for newcomers--the Turks' names weren't listed but the apartment was set as occupied to keep others from looking at it too closely. All she had to do was leave the gift outside the occupied apartment door.
Rude knew this, but it had still been nice to get the gift. He at least wanted to thank her for her effort to find all the Mirrorbound for such an endeavor.]
That kind of effort isn't something you see from just anyone.
I am glad you liked the gift! It was not much but I did my best.
[If Marie had the means to do it, instead of cookies, tea and flowers, the Mirrorbound would have received handpicked luxury items tailored to their personal needs. However, gifts of that level were impossible even for Marie. So, handmade it was.]
Is it really that unusual? I wanted to make sure not a single Mirrorbound is excluded during this holiday season. We are all far away from our friends and families after all...
Guess it depends on what you're used to, I suppose. But I'm not used to it.
[Whether that was because he was a Turk or because no one really bothered with gestures like that back in his world...was debatable. And he wasn't really saying.]
[On second thought, there were as many different worlds out there as there were Mirrorbound and countless more for sure. It wasn’t a stretch to imagine that his home was a place with different set of customs]
Or are holidays celebrated in a different way at your home? No getting together, presents? What do you do for holidays? Do you have holidays at all?
[Marie met a new Mirrorbound, so time for tons of questions. Bear with it, Rude.]
[He hadn't really meant it like that. Life wasn't rough, per se, but maybe it would have been to someone like her by comparison to her own world. He didn't know.
He's not overwhelmed by all the questions so much as takes a moment with them. He's not much of a talker but it's not as if he can't. Just usually won't. He starts slowly.]
We have holidays. People celebrate them in various ways. Plenty of them involve gift giving or old customs that people still follow without always knowing the meaning anymore. [He shrugged casually.] I typically work holidays.
[Because why wouldn't he? It was just another day.]
...and if you're interested! (if not, no worries!)
